In order to optimize our impact on communities, the selection of communities and partner organizations is based on very specific sectors of activity. Work partners and volunteer work benefits marginalized and vulnerable social groups.

Sectors of activity

The sectors of activity targeted by Katimavik are in large part the same as those of The United Nations Economic and Social Council which recognized Katimavik as a consultative member in 2007. Specifically, Katimavik works with community partner organizations engaged in:
  • Social services
  • Poverty reduction
  • Formal and non-formal education (focus on literacy)
  • Arts, culture and heritage
  • Sports and leisure / Outdoor activities
  • Environment / Sustainable development
  • Media and communications
  • Social justice

In order to contribute towards improving the social and economic wellbeing of your community, Katimavik works with organizations and on community projects that serve the vulnerable, disadvantaged or marginalized populations, such as:
  • People experiencing poverty
  • The elderly
  • People with disabilities
  • Women in need
  • Youth and children
  • Immigrants and refugees
