Because Katimavik leads to success!
Katimavik is an opportunity for your teen to participate in a structured, time-proven program that will enable them to explore career options, gain valuable life experience and challenge themselves in ways a traditional class room setting cannot.Give your teen the opportunity to position him or herself for success!
Data shows that a well thought-out gap or interim year after high-school helps young people do better in their future academic/vocational careers while preparing them to achieve their overall personal goals. The Katimavik program provides youth with an extra year to mature, see Canada, learn about themselves and to gain a better sense of what they want out of life.
Canadian higher learning institutions, including Dalhousie and McGill, support the idea of a gap year as they allow admitted prospective students to defer to the following academic year should they chose to take an interim year! In the United States, Harvard University has been recommending a gap year in its admission letter for almost 30 years.
If your teen is ready to go forward but is not fully convinced of what career path or study program to embark on, or if he or she is looking for a life-changing, educational and productive experience then be sure to point him/her to our blog at www.gokatimavik.com
The Adventure of a lifetime!
Katimavik offers young Canadians between the ages of 17 and 21 the opportunity to experience an exciting six or nine month adventure of self-discovery through community involvement, training and group life. While on the program, volunteers live with 10 youth and a project leader in three different regions of Canada. By becoming a volunteer in Canada's leading national youth volunteer-service program, as 30,000 other Canadians have done over the past 30 years, students gain hands-on work experience, increase their self confidence, define their academic and professional objectives, develop their sense of civic responsibility, acquire leadership skills and discover Canada! Katimavik volunteers also benefit from a stimulating learning process that focuses on developing competencies related to civic engagements, work experience, interpersonal relations, healthy lifestyle, cultural discovery, official languages and environmental stewardship.
Don’t wait! Have your teen complete the 5 steps to get him on his way.
