Selection criteria

Each application is considered individually and in conjunction with other applications from the same community. Evaluation criteria are as follows:

  • Key actors have identified work projects for volunteers.
  • Proposed work would be a positive and stimulating experience for volunteers.
  • There is a sufficient number of organizations or projects in the community to guarantee work for 11 volunteers.
  • Work allows volunteers to acquire personal and professional skills.
  • The work is diverse.
  • The organization’s personnel are available to supervise and manage volunteers.
  • There are appropriate security measures on site.
  • The community is offering support for the proposed projects.
  • Proposed tasks would not take jobs away from the local workforce.
  • It is possible to accommodate 12 people in the community.
  • There are regional medical and educational resources.
  • Proposed work projects are in line with Katimavik’s impact areas.

Please note that Katimavik remains in a community for as long as the partnership is beneficial to work partners, volunteers and Katimavik.
