How can Katimavik help my community

As a Katimavik partner, you will sign an agreement that will allow your community to benefit from over 10,000 working hours. Volunteers will work for not-for-profit organizations, develop a targeted community project and perform various volunteer projects that will have a positive impact on the entire community. In your community, volunteers will work with:

  • The underprivileged
  • The elderly
  • The disabled
  • Women in need
  • Youth and children
  • Immigrants and refugees
  • First Nations
  • Cultural minorities

In addition to time spent on their work projects, Katimavik volunteers collaborate with local stakeholders to develop a community project. The type of project depends on the specific needs of the community and the project’s feasibility. Here are some examples of collective community projects:

  • Collaborating in local initiatives to increase their scope or impact
  • Fostering social solidarity through dynamic projects
  • Awareness-raising and educational activities on local and national issues
  • Developing community gardens or other environmental initiatives
