Located in the northeast corner of New Brunswick, in the Baie des Chaleurs, Caraquet means “the meeting of two rivers” in Micmac. The city has much to offer lovers of seaside tourism, and the region features many recreational centers. Bas-Caraquet is located just north of Caraquet. Fishing has been the mainstay of its economy from the time the first settlers arrived in 1735 through today.
