Known as the City of Silver, land of legend and pioneers, steeped in rich mining history, Trail is located on the Columbia River, in the West Kootenay region of British Columbia, 9 kilometres north of the Canada-USA border. Nestled in the Selkirk and Monashee mountain ranges, Trail is a four-season destination, offering an abundance of recreational activities, such as golfing, skiing, mountain biking, kayaking, fishing, and hiking. With its population of 7,816 inhabitants, Trail has become the home of a very large Italian community that has contributed to the city's distinctive character, giving it a definite Old World feel. Some say the best Italian food in the province is to be enjoyed here. Silver City Days celebrations include grape stomping, parades and pasta dinners. For residents and visitors alike, Trail offers outstanding opportunities for living life to the fullest.
