The rich history of Vernon, the oldest city in the Okanaga Valley, began with the native Salish. Next came the fur traders, the gold mines, ranches, wheat farming and forestry, as the region’s many museums can testify. This community of more than 33,000 inhabitants,  most of whom are English-speaking, hosts many sports and cultural events and features a beautiful nature site.
